During my recent trip to the USA, I had the opportunity to spend some time in Breckenridge and Keystone with the Skiers Junction guys for the last few days of the camp.
Skiers Junction is Australia’s pre-eminent freeskiing camp, run by Program Director Nick Franklin-Jones. Nick is one of Australia’s most experienced freeskiers and coaches, with years of experience running camps overseas (USA, Canada, Japan).
Turning up I was impressed by the setup, a great house for all the campers and coaches, close to the ski hill and with the fully equipped gym only a few minutes drive away. Plus I got a sneak peak at next winters NEW Skiers Junction house and it is amazing. They are going to be some stoked campers when they arrive.
The program is focussed on fun and progression for all athletes on the camp, whether they are starting out, learning their first 360 or a seasoned campaigner. The camps location is fur-nominal, taking advantage of not one but TWO of the best terrain parks in the world, Breckenridge and Keystone.
A normal is spent on-snow from 9am-2pm riding the park (or powder), then head back to the house for lunch, followed by an afternoon/evening gym session. After the gym dinner is served up by the lovely Jacqui. The campers definitely don’t go hungry with great healthy meals dished up each night. The camp schedule also includes days off-snow to allow the campers recover so they can get the most out of each day they are on-snow.
In my experience of being a camper and a coach on many camps over the years this is one of the best setup and run camps I have seen. Prices, dates and all the camp info can be found on the Skiers Junction website. As there are limited place available for the 2015 camp so make sure you get in quick and register now @ Skiers Junction
