TR: USA 2014 SIA Snow Show Denver – 2015 Skis

Made it to Denver for SIA, a few hours later than planned as it snowed 2 feet overnight in Breckenridge and seeing as there has been no powder days on the trip so far I couldn’t pass it up. Check out the quick video below.

For those not aware SIA is North America’s ski and snowboard trade show, where all the main companies come to release all of their 2015 ranges. SIA has all the big brands and many you have never even heard of. Here is pics of many of the skis we will have next winter and some we wont have but they are worth checking out, because we are ski nerds.

TR: USA 2014 Beaver Creek, Vail, Breckenridge & Keystone

It has be a week or so since i have done a post. I have manage to ski 4 resorts over the week and a bit.

I started up at Beaver Creek where skiing the first bumps of the trip which was a nice change from skiing all the groomers in California. Beaver Creek as a resort has a great mix of terrain for all levels and even a park. Beaver Creek is definitely a place that would keep the entire family happy on their holiday. Got lucky enough to go ski with TBR Head Grom coach Josh Laney on his day off, as he spends his northern winters instructing at Beaver Creek. He took me on the guided tour of the entire resort. One of my favourite runs was definitely the World Cup Downhill course ‘Birds of Prey’. On my last day headed straight there and in 4hrs racked up 10 runs and 30,000ft of vertical.

TR: USA 2014 The Crash Reel

Tonight here in Beaver Creek I finally got to go and see a movie I have wanted to go see for a while The Crash Reel showcases the journey of Kevin Pearce and his rivalry with Shaun White which was tragically cut short when he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) during a training accident in Park City just before the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

I found it to be a gripping film. It has some extremely sad, inspirational and funny moments. I don’t want to give too much away as I think the best thing to do is to watch it for yourself.

TR: USA 2014 Deer Valley Moguls, Park City & Road to Colorado

The weather has continued to be bluebird, which made great viewing for Saturday’s events. Headed up to Deer Valley to see the TBR camp athletes compete on the course that had held the World Cup the week before and regard as possibly the toughest course in the World. It was great to see how far a few of my former TBR Grom athletes have progressed over the past few seasons. There were some great performances, most notably Jakara Anothony taking out 2nd place.

TR: USA 2014 Kirkwood, Drive to Salt Lake City, Canyons

It has been a hectic few days since the last post. We managed to make it for our much-anticipated day at Kirkwood Mountain, as Toody’s last name is Kirkwood. Needless to say she did a number on their souvenir shop buying many family presents.

Saturday was a planned day off snow, which turned out to be a great call. It was windy and snowy/rainy day which made for a great lazy one, watching movies and just generally relaxing around the house.

Ski stop number two on this road trip is South Lake Tahoe. We have skied here the past five days. Conditions are slightly improved than Mammoth with cover on the open runs, good but outside of that there is not much to speak of.

TR: USA 2014 LA, Las Vegas, Mammoth

The summer ski trip has started with the absence of skiing for the first few days. Kicked off with a couple of balmy nights in LA at Venice Beach. Hotel had an amazing rooftop bar, spotted a couple celebrities.
